Disclaimer:
Our candles undergo testing before we small batch them and pass them to you. Our testing process and small batching allow us to control and assess the quality of everything we make. Please understand that there may be slight variations from batch to batch. We do not expect these variations to affect the performance or safety of our candles.
What we do to ensure candle safety:
We use only 100% soy wax or a coconut-soy wax blend in all our candles. Our fragrances are carefully selected and are free from phthalates, carcinogens, mutagens, and toxins. If we do not use it in our home, we do not want it in yours! We only use vessels rated for candles. We inspect every vessel before using it to pour a candle. Every candle has a natural wood wick responsibly sourced from a reputable company. Due to the nature of the wood wicks, we occasionally get some that are easily broken or warped. We do our best to inspect each wick before placing it in your candle. We are human, so occasionally, things sneak past us. Please understand each candle may burn differently than the last. We do not expect these variations to affect the quality or safety of the candle.
What you can do to ensure candle safety:
Candle safety does not stop with us! When you bring the candle into your home, there are things you can do to ensure the safe and clean burn of your candle.
#1: As a general rule of thumb, do not burn a candle for longer than 4 hours. This is a general rule, as some of our larger vessel candles (20 oz and up) may need longer than 4 hours to achieve a complete melt pool.
#2: Please never leave a burning candle unattended. Despite our rigorous testing and quality control, there are things that are out of our control. Staying with your candle while burning can help prevent potential safety issues. If the candle flame becomes too high or smokes, extinguish the candle immediately and allow it to cool completely before trimming and relighting. To see more on proper trimming visit our post on Candle Care.
#3: Keep candles away from children and pets. To ensure the safety of your candles and your family, please place them out of reach of children and fur babies.
#4: Keep candles away from things that can catch fire. The perfect place to light your candle is away from any flammable materials or decorations. Ensure the surface is flat and level so there is no chance that your candle could tip or fall over.
#5: Place candles in a well-ventilated room away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans, and air currents.
#6: Never touch or attempt to move a burning candle. The container can become very hot.
#7: Extinguish the candle when 1/2" of wax remains. Never burn a candle all the way down. To properly extinguish a candle, use a snuffer to smother the flame versus blowing it out.
We hope these tips help ensure the safe burning of your candle. Our list may not be completely exhaustive, so please exercise caution and judgment when placing and lighting candles in your home.
